Amazon FBA Prep: 3 Things Sellers Need to Get Right Before Sending Inventory
by Ryan Edward, Operations Manager
Amazon FBA prep can look simple from the outside, but small errors usually turn into bigger problems once inventory reaches the warehouse or Amazon receiving network. If sellers want smoother outbound shipments, there are a few basics that need to be handled correctly every time.
1. Labeling has to be accurate
FNSKU labels, carton labels, and any routing labels need to be clear, scannable, and placed correctly. When labels are missing, covered, or attached to the wrong product, it slows everything down.
That is one reason sellers often use an Amazon prep partner. A prep warehouse can review inventory before it ships out, apply labels correctly, and reduce the chance of avoidable check-in issues.

2. Packaging should match the product
Some products need simple carton prep. Others need repacking, bundling, protective packaging, or more careful handling before they are ready for FBA.
This matters even more for food packaging or fragile product categories, because presentation, safety, and consistency all affect how the shipment arrives and how the inventory is handled later.

3. Shipment accuracy saves time later
A shipment can leave the warehouse looking complete but still create problems if carton counts, contents, or prep details do not match what was planned.
Before inventory goes out, sellers should make sure the shipment is organized, labeled, and packed in a way that supports a clean handoff. That makes Amazon prep more predictable and helps avoid unnecessary delays.
